Cookie Policy

What cookies we use and why.

1. What Are Cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the website remember your preferences, keep you signed in, and understand how you interact with the site. Some cookies are essential for the website to function; others help us improve your experience.

2. How We Use Cookies

The sharc Travel platform ("Platform") uses cookies for the purposes described below. Today the Platform sets only essential cookies required for the booking flow and security, plus a small number of cookies set directly by Stripe on payment pages. We do not currently use analytics, advertising, or social‑media tracking cookies. If we add optional cookies in the future they will require your explicit consent via the cookie banner before they are set.

3. Essential Cookies

These cookies are strictly necessary for the Platform to function. They do not collect personal data for marketing purposes and cannot be switched off.

  • Session cookie (ci_session)
    Maintains your browsing session, keeps you logged in, and remembers your cabin selection during the booking process. Also carries the CSRF protection token that guards forms against cross‑site request forgery. Expires when you close your browser.
  • Cookie consent (cookie_consent, plus a mirrored value in localStorage)
    Remembers your cookie preferences so we don't ask you every visit. Expires after 12 months.

4. Analytics Cookies

The Platform does not currently use analytics cookies. Server‑side request logs (which contain your IP address and the URL you visited, retained for a short period for security and abuse prevention) are not based on cookies and are described in our Privacy Policy.

If we introduce a privacy‑respecting analytics tool in the future, it will:

  • be listed in this section with the cookie names, purpose, retention, and provider;
  • be set only after you opt in via the cookie banner; and
  • be added to the Subprocessors list.

5. Payment Cookies

When you proceed to payment, our payment processor Stripe may set cookies on your device to prevent fraud and process your transaction securely.

  • Stripe cookies (__stripe_mid, __stripe_sid)
    Used for fraud detection and secure payment processing. These are set by Stripe and governed by Stripe's privacy policy. Expires after 1 year / 30 minutes respectively.

6. Third-Party Cookies

The Platform does not use advertising or social media tracking cookies. We do not serve targeted ads or share cookie data with advertisers.

Some pages may embed content from third parties (e.g., map tiles from OpenStreetMap). These providers may set their own cookies. We recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies.

7. Managing Your Cookie Preferences

On the Platform: Because the Platform currently uses only essential cookies, the cookie banner shows a single acknowledgement ("Got it"). If we add optional cookies in the future, the banner will give you a granular accept/reject choice. You can re‑open the banner at any time via the Cookie Settings link in the footer, or directly here: Manage cookie preferences.

In your browser: You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View which cookies are stored and delete them individually
  • Block all cookies or only third-party cookies
  • Set rules for specific websites

Note that blocking essential cookies will prevent the Platform from functioning correctly — for example, you won't be able to stay logged in or complete a booking.

8. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no industry standard for how websites should respond to DNT. Currently, the Platform does not alter its behaviour based on DNT signals. We honour your cookie consent preferences as described above.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or the cookies we use. The "Last updated" date indicates the most recent revision. If we add new cookie categories that require consent, we will ask for your consent again.
